May we say a huge thank you to everyone who came to our Swift Show Weekends. We were very happy to meet every new Swift owner who came to see us and our extremely successful show. It was met with great enthusiasm from everyone including staff and may we say a special huge thank you to everyone who purchased a swift product.

We are now looking forward to our 2nd show which should be sometime in October to launch the 2011 models from Swift, Sprite and maybe one more.

With great deals and massive savings on these weekends, you would be mad to miss it.

We have had 2 incidents this week were mobile technicians have mislead customers into believing they are authorised to service their new caravans. It would be unprofessional to name the associations linked to these independent mobile technicians, but as a result both customers have had to pay for the service to be done again by an approved agent to re-instate the manufacturers warranty. It now looks like the £30-£40 they may have saved initially, has cost them nearly twice as much by having to pay for the service twice.

THE MORAL
Please, please, please make sure that whoever is servicing your new caravan, if it still covered by the manufacturers warranty, that the person or company is authorised to do so. The normal rule is, if they are a dealer for that manufacturer or a member of the AWS, then the service should stand. If you have any doubts, then phone the manufacturer first before agreeing the service.

We now have the slide switches which go in the fire front to suit the MKII carver fanmasters as fitted to the Carver 4000 fires. We have a company producing them for us and we have them in stock at our Blackburn Aftersales.

Just a quick reminder for anyone who may not have dusted off the caravan yet, check your water system out for leaks now.

We have, so far this year, encountered a huge amount of caravans suffering with frost damage. We have had 6 x carver cascade heaters burst, 2 x truma ultrastore heaters burst, 4 x truma therm heaters broken, at least 30 x surflo pumps split and I have lost count of the number of taps and pipe joints split. Its not surprising when you consider the weather we have had at -11.

So please, if you haven't already, check your water system out thoroughly before taking the caravan out. At least then you may have a chance of sorting it out in time, before you have got onto site, set it up and find the problem when everywhere is closed.

Due to such a high demand from our customers we will be producing very soon, our very own Read Caravans Club Card.

This card is for any customer who has purchased a caravan in the past from us, and will be issued with any future caravan sales.

This Club Card will entitle you to savings in all of our Leisure Accessory Shops and Service Centres. It will also be used in conjunction with any future promotions. So as a Club Card member you will automatically qualify for all future special offers on motor movers, tyron bands, servicing, awnings etc.

We are due to commence building work at our Leeds branch for our new service centre. This work will start in the first week of August and should last approx 10 days.

During this time the current workshop will be closed and there will be no access for customers caravans on to the site. We apologise for any inconveniences this may cause, but we have took the decission to close the workshop to help speed up the building of the new service centre.

We are very proud to say we have won for the whole of the North of England region again. Its a great honour and good recognition of what we are trying to do. Its also nice to know that its not going un-noticed. We do try our best.

Given the recent developments with Avondale, we are trying to secure all original parts going back over the last 5yrs. Today we have secured all the aluminium exterior extrusions and mouldings, all the exterior aluminium panels, and all the wallboards and furniture boards. We have one company coming back to us regarding the front and rear panels and shower trays and another company with all the exterior graphics and decals. We hope to have this confirmed next week.

We have done this to ensure that in the unfortunate event, should anyone have an accident with their Avondale or the caravan suffers from water ingress and damp, we at Read Caravans will still be able to repair them. We also want to look after all Avondale owners and their caravans.

All these original parts will be held at our Blackburn Service Centre, and they can be contacted on 01254 694313 option 3 Monday to Friday.

At Read Caravans we are always trying to improve the way we run our business. Over the last 2 years we have significantly increased the amount of waste we are recycling, and are now currently achieving approximately 80%. In a drive to build on this and also cut down on the amount of paper wasted, we are now going paperless for all our service reminders, special offers and promotions.
